In November of 2002, Mayor Lacy held a meeting at City Hall to talk about the lack of events in East Wenatchee. He suggested that an organization of volunteers, working as an official entity to provide event management duties, might be what was needed to get the community active again. By April of 2003, the East Wenatchee Community Events Board (now referred to as the East Wenatchee Events Board or EWEB) was established.

In July of 2007, the Events Board became part of the Community Development Department of the City. The Board's task is: "To promote and attract awareness, interest and tourism to East Wenatchee, through special events which portray the spirit of community and quality of life East Wenatchee has to offer."

The Event Board currently hosts four event per year: The Fred Meyer Easter Egg Hunt, the Les Schwab Classy Chassis Parade & Car Show, the Wings & Wheels Festival and the Christmas Tree Lighting. Funding for each event is generated from hotel/motel tax funds, registration fees, events sponsorship, sales of event merchandise, and donation.

For more information please contact:
East Wenatchee Events Board
East Wenatchee, WA
509-886-6108
events@east-wenatchee.com
